Table Description

The Current Employment Statistics (CES) program produces detailed industry estimates of employment, hours, and earnings of workers on nonfarm payrolls. CES State and Metro Area produce data for all 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and about 450 metropolitan areas and divisions. CES National Estimates produces estimates for the nation.


Each month, CES surveys approximately 131,000 businesses and government agencies, representing 670,000 individual worksites.


This database contains the following statistics without seasonal adjustment for each state:


  1. Labor force
  2. Labor force participation rate
  3. Employment
  4. Unemployment
  5. Unemployment rate
  6. Civilian noninstitutional population
  7. Employment-population ratio
